LAKOTA SPIRITUALITY & EMOTIONAL CONSULTATION
In ancient times, there were many dream societies among the Lakota Sioux people. Members of one particular dream society were called upon in a dream by the Elk Spirit, who gave them medicine regarding matters of Love & War. The focus of their society was to help the people to develop their emotional well-being so that the people could live in a more spiritual life, as the Lakota believe that a healthy spirituality can only be achieved when one is emotionally balanced.
Members of this dream society advised the people in processing their emotions, as they experienced certain events in life, such as the birth and death of relatives, marital issues, all matters pertaining to relationship issues, among countless other emotional events. They not only knew what constituted a healthy emotional well-being, but also how one can become unhealthy, as well. Thus, they were the psychologists and relationship therapists of the people.
Some were gifted with the ability to perceive both the men and women's perspectives. Some were able to provide medicine to warriors before they went into battle so that they would be protected. They knew the foundation upon which love and war grew upon. They also knew how to learn from the intricate workings of the light and dark side of all energies, spiritual, matter, emotional and mental.
